2011 President’s Award - Update

At Conference in June, I announced the establishment of the new President’s Award, encouraging managers to embrace health promotion activities within healthcare cleaning.  Since then, I have been encouraged to hear about a number of initiatives across the country.

The deadline for Branches to nominate a finalist for this award is 31 January 2011.  Branch Chairs therefore need to be taking action now to find out about the work that is going on, and to make sure that they have a worthy contender in place.  There is still chance for people to start their good ideas, but clearly, time is getting tight.

In the original brief, we stipulated that the initial branch application would be a written application of 1,000 words max.  However, the flyer and the information that went on the website do not mention this.  I suggest therefore that the process for nominating a branch finalist is determined locally.  It could be a written application, a selection process, or a testimonial from a manager.  This aspect of the award is not judged centrally, as we want all candidates to have equal support in developing their ideas for the final selection.

Things to agree

  • Confirm 31 January 2011 as deadline
  • Branch Chairs to initiate search for applicants
  • Local selection process to apply
  • Date and venue to be set for initial workshop
  • Date and venue to be set for selection and follow-up workshop
  • Identify who will project manage
  • Confirm who will offer workshops (suggest Nigel Grinstead for first one, and for pre-conference coaching, and Alec Barton for poster presentation one, and for help with writing up for publication)
  • Confirm judging panel (me, Denise, Carina?? and health promotion person)

  • Back....
