Content is sorted into different sections and categories which can be found by using the main menu across the top of the screen. If you click on the item in the menu bar itself you will be taken to an overview page which explains what the particular section contains. Alternatively clicking on any of the drop-down menu items takes you directly to the category or article you want. Once you are in an area of the site a menu also appears on the left hand side of your screen.
Many articles have a short introduction followed by an orange 'read more...' link. Click on the article title or 'read more...' to see the full content. When you see text in articles in orange it normally means it is a clickable link. To get back to where you were use the orange 'back...' link at the end of each article. You can also use the back and forward buttons in your browser window.
Some articles are for AHCP members only. To read these you need to be a member and to be logged in. If you click on a menu link and get a blank screen this usually means the articles in that section are for members only.
All usernames and passwords for the old AHCP website are no longer valid. The new site uses individual usernames and passwords which you can set yourself. To register as a site user click on the blue 'Register/Sign in' button at the top right of your page. Click on the orange 'Register' after 'no account yet?' and complete the form which appears. You can make up your own username and password but be sure to use the email address which relates to your AHCP membership application / approval as your website registration will not be approved if these do not exactly match.
Once you have completed the form click on 'register'. This automatically creates an email which is sent to the email address you provided on the form. When you receive this you must click on the link it contains to confirm that your email address is valid.
When you have done this your application will be checked against the AHCP members database. This is a manual process which may take up to 48 hours, longer at weekends and during holiday periods. If your membership is up to date and has been paid you will receive an email confirming you can now access the members only areas. NB. For departmental, group and trust/board memberships it is very important that the list of individuals, including their email addresses, covered by the membership is accurate and up-to-date.
Once you have registered all you have to do is to enter your username and password each time you want to visit the member only areas.
Over 200 new articles have been created from the content on the old AHCP site. This includes the vast majority of content from 2009 and 2010. Older material will not be moved over unless people request it.
Please be patient as articles may be not be quite where they were before; the new sections and categories are hopefully more user friendly and obvious. If you do have difficulty finding anything please use the search facility first, before getting in touch.
