Association of Healthcare Cleaning Professionals
Annual Conference & Exhibition 2009

Crowne Plaza, Glasgow, 3-5 June 2009

OUR FUTURE IS NOW
SCOTLAND HOSTS AHCP…EUROPE… THE WORLD…

Dear Colleagues,
I am delighted to announce that the 34th Annual Association of Healthcare Cleaning Professionals (AHCP) Conference & Exhibition will be hosted in Glasgow at the Crowne Plaza Hotel from Wednesday 3 to Friday 5 June 2009.

Bringing together chief executives, healthcare cleaning directors, managers, supervisors, distributors, manufacturers and suppliers from across the UK, the AHCP Conference & Exhibition has established itself as a key forum for exchanging knowledge and driving forward best practice and technology within the healthcare cleaning profession. The focus is on all aspects of cleanliness and the management of healthcare associated infections within the patient environment, providing the back drop for this conference.

Over 250 attendees enjoyed a successful event when AHCP 2008 was staged in Harrogate in June this year. A full and relevant conference agenda, high-level speakers, busy exhibition and excellent social networking opportunities all resulted in such positive feedback that AHCP 2009 is set to be an even bigger and better event, not to be missed.

Building on the success of the 2008 event, AHCP 2009 will feature a larger exhibition of products, services and innovative technology. An upgraded conference format providing topical and practical conference sessions including new technologies and debates on sustainability within the cleanliness industry, will give all attendees plenty of opportunities to interact with speakers, professional colleagues, suppliers and customers. As usual, there will also be a busy social networking programme, including two evenings; an informal dinner followed by entertainment and a formal night where the theme will be most definitely Scottish!

An international perspective will flavour topics of discussion at the event as we embrace the future of hospital and healthcare cleaning and the management of the patient environment.  Themes and detailed topics for 2009 are under development, so please look out for more details over the coming months.

The conference agenda reflects the Association’s continued commitment to drive forward further development within cleaning services to improve the healthcare patient environment.

Current Association initiatives with government bodies include the following work streams;

  • The national review of the NHS Cleanliness Manual,
  • Working with the NHS Supply Chain to create an accurate national strategy,
  • Working to develop a British Standard for Cleanliness with Healthcare Facilities

This clear integrated commitment supports members and Trust Boards alike as they realise that there has never been a better time to focus on hospital cleanliness. Encouraged by public attention and supported by Governmental ‘fast track’ approval initiatives, current good practice includes a raft of new technologies and working methods, and many private sector manufacturers and contractors are developing new cleaning technologies to help in the fight against HCAIs.

We look forward to seeing you in Glasgow for this high level productive event coming as it does at this critical time for cleaning, hygiene and the patient environment.

Kind regards

Carina Bale
National Chair

P.S. Bookings are coming in fast for the Early Bird discounted conference rate offer and with Christmas looming it is looking like it may not be possible for us to process them all before 31st December so we have agreed that the offer should be extended until 31st January 2009. This will not only allow us ample time to deal with all your bookings but also for us to acknowledge that in the current economic climate it is a small thing we can do which may make a big difference to your ability to fund your attendance at this important event.
