2012 President's Award Deadline Approaching!

l-jones-250Dr. Elizabeth Jones, AHCP President writes: We are now firmly into 2012 so we can really start to look forward to this year's conference. The organising team have been working flat out to pull together a fantastic programme, and I am sure that everyone who goes will be delighted with the outcome.

For me, one of the highlights of last year's event was the President's Award. Not because I got the chance to put on a posh frock and present the prizes, but because of the high standard of our finalists. It was a close-run thing, but I know everyone was impressed by both the content of the projects, and the professionalism of the presenters.

If you haven't yet entered for this year's award, please consider doing so. There's still time, and the prizes are well worth having - you get valuable support on how to present your work as well as the chance to walk away with the big prize. If you ask any of last year's finalists, they will tell you that the tips they picked up were relevant well beyond that short half-hour on the platform.

This year's theme is education, and that covers a huge range of topics.

  • If you've introduced a basic literacy scheme, then that's just as relevant as if you've introduced a Master's level management programme;
  • Your project might affect just one or two people, or a whole trust;
  • You might have delivered the training yourself, or arranged for someone else to do it. It doesn't matter.

If you've done something to improve the performance of your staff through education and training, then let others know about it. You might just be better off as a result.

The final Date for President Award submissions is 28th February 2012. So if have been meaning to enter but not got round to it yet, don't delay any longer! Good Luck
